Terms of Service

1. Service Description

WriteSmart is an AI-powered English writing practice platform for K-12 students. The service includes AI-generated writing prompts, automated grading and feedback, progress tracking, and weekly reports.

2. Accounts

You must be at least 18 years old to create a parent account. Parents are responsible for creating and managing student accounts for their children. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.

Each account is for personal family use only. Sharing account credentials with others is not permitted. We enforce a single active session per account to prevent account sharing.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree to use WriteSmart only for its intended purpose of English writing practice. You agree not to:

• Share your account with anyone outside your family
• Attempt to reverse-engineer or interfere with the platform
• Submit content that is harmful, offensive, or inappropriate
• Use the service for any commercial purpose without our permission

4. AI-Generated Content

Writing prompts, feedback, scores, and model writing samples are generated by AI. While we strive for accuracy and helpfulness, AI-generated content may occasionally contain errors. Scores and feedback are for practice purposes and should not be considered as professional academic assessments.

5. Subscription and Payment

Free Trial: New users receive a one-month free trial activated by invitation code. No credit card is required for the trial.

Paid Plans: After the trial, continued access requires a paid subscription. Pricing is based on the number of students on the account.

Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time. Your access will continue until the end of the current billing period. No refunds are provided for partial billing periods, including annual plans.

Payment Failure: If payment fails, you will have a 7-day grace period to update your payment information before access is suspended.

6. Intellectual Property

The WriteSmart platform, including its design, code, and brand, is our intellectual property. Writing submitted by students remains the property of the student and their family.

AI-generated content (prompts, feedback, model writing) is provided for personal educational use only and may not be redistributed commercially.

7. Data and Privacy

Your use of WriteSmart is also governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the service, you consent to the collection and use of information as described in our Privacy Policy.

8. Limitation of Liability

WriteSmart is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for:

• Errors or inaccuracies in AI-generated content
• Service interruptions or data loss
• Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time through the Settings page, which will permanently remove all your data.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or through the platform. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada.
